Dapuzi Hill, Jiulong, 1928
In 1928 when Joseph Rock arrived in "Chiulong" (Jiulong) he found a collection of watchtowers at the north end of town, which threatened to collapse at the first slight earth tremor. he derided the locals for living under these unstable structures, whose function was not clear.

As you may be able to see, all but one of the watchtowers have gone, and the riverside has been taken over by an ugly car breakers yard. The middle ground also has a Tibetan-style guesthouse.

Twelve Daughters Peak, Wuxu Hai
Here are a few sample photos from my latest trip to Sichuan in the footsteps of Joseph Rock. I didn't do very well this time round, due to bad weather (snow)and illness (altitude sickness). Will describe the trip in more detail next week. I only got to Wuxu Hai, really.
