Tibetan couple 1929

This couple were photographed by Rock at the Minya Konka Gompa [monastery] in 1929. He described them as beggar-pilgrims, making small clay stupas from brass moulds, into which consecrated barley grains were inserted into the base.

Take note of the wicker basket in this picture - similar ones are still used in the area, and I will post pics of one at some time.
