Swiss aid project in Shuiluo village near Muli
Here are a few pictures taken by some Swiss aid workers who have helped construct a school in the remote village of Shuiluo, imbetween Muli and Yading. Joseph Rock passed though here on his way to Konkaling, and described how his retinue of Muli servants did not wish to continue into "bandit country" here, which he described as the Iron River canyon. The Swiss group's website has a lot more pictures and tells the story of their very admirable modern day project.

Excellent pictures of the Salween (Nujiang) valley
Joseph Rock traveled extensively in the Salween valley on his way to and from Kawakarpo. He mentioned the small church at Dimaluo, then overseen by a lonely French priest. Here is a contemporary picture. It was taken taken by by rkchapman and many more can be seen at the Flickr site:

This great picture by "qlingrong" (was taken on the Orchid Plain, (Lanhua Ping) on the way to "Fairy Lake" (Xiannu Hu) near Jiulong. It is near Wulaxi village in Jiulong counry, apparently. More pictures here:
